WE HONOR A LEGEND

HONORED: DECEMBER 2, 2024

Ted’s legacy will forever live on at BMRH - thanks for paving the way!

The Board of Directors, surprised our President, and his brother, and presented them with a memorial plaque and rink decal honoring their father, Ted Manara.

Ted, or Teddy as most people called him, lost his battle to Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease this past August. Ted helped start Bellmore-Merrick Youth Association (BMYA) for Braves Football, Girls Cheerleading, and Girls Fast-Pitch Softball. He then helped develope BMYA Roller Hockey, which later became, Bellmore-Merrick Roller Hockey (BMRH) as it is known today. Ted volunteered for more than 20 years and kept Roller Hockey going in the community. Not only did he help direct and grow the League, he also started a Travel Roller Hockey Program that provided the best players from BMRH, opportunities to compete both regionally, and Nationally.
