WEEK 1 RECAP
Opening Night
Flyers 10 - Bruins 4
This was an absolute chess match and at the half as the Flyers led, 4-3. However, they scored 6 more goals over the course of the remaining two periods to earn the W. Daniel Godek made some spectacular saves as the Bruins kept getting the rebounds but just couldn’t pop one in. The Flyers Sam Stawinski scored 5 goals and added an assist. Jake Cipriano, Daniel Trafficanda, Nicolette Anselmo and Jake Lamonica scored goals for the Flyers. The Bruins Joseph Kraus scored twice while brother Jack and Robert DiMonda recorded the remaining goals for the Bruins.
Blues 10 - Stars 6
The Stars jumped out early, 3-0, and led at the half, 4-2. Unfortunately, for them, the Blues stormed out the gate and scored 8 2nd half goals to win the game. Brendan Hoefenkrieg led the way with 7 goals and an assist. Christopher Keane added 2 of his own while Matthew Laico tallied 1. Stefano Turriciano led the Stars recording a hat trick while Jake Guarino, James Esposito and William Gavinovich also scored.
Panthers 5 - Blue Jackets 4 OT
The first Junior Division game of the season turns into an OT-thriller! New comer to the league Anthony Catanzarita sealed the deal with the overtime game-winner. Ben Margulies led the Panthers with 2 goals and 3 assists while Jack Sarosy and Alex Kute added the other goals. For the Blue Jackets, Shane Russo returned to his Fall ’22 MVP form and recorded all 4 goals for the Blue Jackets.
Hurricanes 13 - Lightning 11
There was lots of offensive fire power in this one. The Hurricanes jumped out to an early lead and the Lightning's comeback came up just short. The Canes were led by Leon Guven who recorded 5 points (4 goals, 1 assist) and Matteo Tseretopoulos who recorded a hat trick. The Bolts Luca Campana recorded 4 goals and an assist while Jackson Banke recorded 4 points (2 goals and 2 assists).
Canadiens 14 - Penguins 8
The Canadiens Alex Distefano scored 8 goals to lead them to victory while teammate, Logan Maslauskas recorded a hat trick. The Pens were led by Patrick Casserly who recorded a hat trick and an assist while Nicholas Liguori scored 2 goals.
Kings 19 - Jets 15
We ended night 2 with some fireworks as the score of this game looked like a football final score. The Kings Matt Vlahakis recorded 16 points (12 goals, 4 assists). The Jets were down big, a few times but kept fighting back as they had more of an overall team effort. Jake Seidman recorded 8 points (2 goals, 6 assists), Brayden Padula recorded 7 points (5 goals, 2 assists), and Jayce Vanasco recorded 5 points finishing with a hat trick and 2 assists.
Flyers 12 - Lightning 4
John Montefusco led the Flyers to their 2nd victory of the season as he scored 5 goals in this one. Sam Stawinski recorded a hat trick giving him 8 goals to start the season. The Lightning were led by Jordan Daley who scored 2 goals and Nikolas Kossack who recorded a goal and an assist.
Penguins 13 - Kings 12 OT
The Penguins Patrick Casserly scored 9 goals and recorded 3 assists, one of those passes set up the game-winner, in overtime, to Peyton Paul, as the Pens secured their 1st dub of the season. Sofia Anselmo recorded a hat trick while Matthew Rosman added two assists on the evening. For the Kings, another outstanding performance by Matt Vlahakis as he recorded 10 points (8 goals, 2 assists). Both Lucas Senicola and Thomas Ryan had a goal and an assist, as the Kings move to 1-1.
Hurricanes 12 - Bruins 4
The Hurricanes jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back. Jackson Banke led the Canes scoring 5 goals and recorded an assist. Liam Licastro and Luca Campana both added a goal and an assist in the Canes win. For the B's, Robert DiMonda recorded 3 points (2 goals and an assist) while Jase Kavanagh scored and had an assist.
Stars 13 - Jets 12 OT
On what happened to be a very entertaining game, the Stars Stefano Turriciano buried the game-winner in overtime. Stefano finished with a hat trick and an assist while teammate, William Gavinovich scored 8 goals and assisted on 4 others for a 12 point evening. Haven Cevallos scored her first of the season. The Jets Brayden Padula scored 6 times and had an assist while Brian Barrera recorded a hat trick and an assist.
Ducks 11 - Blue Jackets 4
The Ducks cruised to victory scoring 8 1st half goals. Nico Buglione finished the evening recording 9 points (6 goals and 3 assists). Daniel Resnick added 2 goals and an assist. The Blue Jackets lone goal scorer was Shane Russo.
