WEEK 2 RECAP
Avalanche 9 - Penguins 6
This game was a tight one from the start as both teams ended the 1st half tied at 3. The Avs started to pull away late and fill-in Tendy Dylan Cimino kept the Pens off the scoreboard just enough, to help his team earn the 2 points. Nico Buglione led the Avs offensively recording 4 points (3 goals and an assist) while Hunter Paul, Jake Paul and Aidan Victorio each scored twice. Aiden Masten recorded a hatty for the Pens in the loss.
Capitals 13 - Senators 10
Play to the final whistle! That’s the message here as the Sens opened up the flood gates scoring goal after goal only to see the Caps storm back and take the W. Brendan Hoefenkrieg scored 6 times and Michael Shevlin added a hat trick and an assist for the Caps. Christopher Mazzie also recorded a hat trick and an assist for the Sens while teammate Brady Weiner recorded 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists) in the loss.
Coyotes 16 - Bruins 8
Nothing but goals in this one as Christopher Keane led the way for the Yotes, scoring 8 times! Shayne Renyak followed adding 3 of his own and an assist. Congratulations to Cameron Thompson for scoring his 1st career goal and to Jayce Vanasco for recording his 1st win as a Tendy up in the older division. The B’s were led by Brenan Russo who recorded 6 points (3 goals, 3 assists) and Brayden Padula who recorded a hatty and added an assist.
Maple Leafs 8 - Wild 7
This was a wild one! The Leafs opened up to a commanding 5-2 lead but the Wild battled back as they were led by Liam Wilson’s hat trick. With 3:10 left to play, Ben Margulies helped the Wild pull within 1. Stephen Heine scored a game tying goal with just 30 seconds on the clock. We all thought this one was headed to overtime but Donovan Butler thought otherwise and scored a buzzer beater with 1 tick left on the clock. This goal gave Donovan his 6th point of the game (5 goals, 1 assist). Jack Sarosy scored and added two assists as the Leafs win their 1st of the season.
Coyotes 14 - Ducks 7
The Coyotes are scoring goals like we have never seen as they put up another 10 spot this week. Once again, Christopher Keane led the way scoring 7 goals and once again, Shayne Renyak was right behind him scoring 4 of his own. A short-handed Ducks team gave it their all as John Ackermann scored 4 goals and added 2 assists in the loss.
Wild 14 - Avalanche 4
The Wild beat up on a short-handed Avalanche who played this entire game without a substitution (much kudos to them!). Jack Drew led the Wild with 5 goals and 4 assists while teammates Liam Wilson, Stephen Heine, Dylan Ruzz and Colin Hite all recorded 2 goals a piece. For the Avs, Nico Buglione scored twice while Christopher Gregg added a goal and an assist.
Maple Leafs 6 - Penguins 5
Donovan Butler does it again! Not only did he score to pull the Leafs within 1, but he also tied the game and recorded the OT winner to complete the hat trick and move the Leafs from 0-2 to 2-2. This was a gritty matchup as both Anthony Gomez and Eric Weltner were tough between the pipes. Nick Zummo, Jack Sarosy and Thomas Lutz recorded the other Leafs goals. For the Pens, Brian Justiniano led the way with 3 goals and an assist while James Pelini scored and assisted on two others.
Predators 16 - Capitals 11
Where do we even begin? This is not a typo, 27 goals were scored in the one. 27! Jordan Lass led the Preds scoring 6 times and assisting on another while teammate Logan Kute recorded 5 goals and an assist. Nicholas Kute wasnt far behind as he recorded a hat trick. For the Caps, they battled as Ashlyn Hite scored 6 times and assisted on 3 others. John Montefusco also recorded a hat trick in the loss.
Panthers 12 - Oilers 5
Matt Vlahkis led the Panthers scoring 10 unassisted goals while Patrick Casserly held the Oilers off the board and stood his ground between the pipes. In the loss William Gavinovich recorded 4 points (3 goals and an assist).
